The High School Batch 1983 of St. Paul College Quezon City (now St. Paul University, QC) in cooperation with Finix Corporation and Gatorade are holding a badminton tournament called “Silver Smash 2007: The 2nd Paulinian Badminton Tournament” to be held on August 18 and 19 at Centro Atletico Badminton Court. They will assemble 400 players from different club affiliations and companies all over Metro Manila to compete in the men’s, ladies’ and mixed doubles categories.
This is a fund raising event to support the library needs of disadvantaged schools in the St. Paul University system. SPCQC Batch ’83 has chosen St. Paul School in Buug, Zambaonga del Sur; St. Paul School in Medellin, Cebu; St Anthony School Misamis, Oriental; and Carmel Academy in Polillo, Quezon, the poorest of their sister schools, to be the beneficiaries of their fundraising efforts. They have come to know that these schools have libraries without books and this is truly heartbreaking for mothers like them, who count on books to extend their children’s learning and living beyond the classroom and the home.
With the help of Nike Women, Nike Forum, Prince and Sun Cellular, Batch ‘83 hopes to give every child that enters a St. Paul School access to as much books as they did in their Alma Mater.
The project is also sponsored by Valeza Construction, PH Care, Myra E, ING Bank, Avon and Yehey.com the official on-line media partner.
