The long awaited MESUCA CUP 2007 took all of 3 days (Nov 10, 11, and 17) for the 1,102 participants to serve, lob, drop, drive and smash their way into the championships.
The crowd was stirred by the high energy games of the country’s top players such as Ian Piencennaves, Arolas Amahit, Jaime Junio, Ricky Bartolome, Marlon Villarin, Irene Chiu, Casey Ang Siy, Cheska Bormejo, and many others!
Experienced tournament players stayed steady and strategic, while new faces from as far as Tuguegarao tested their mettle. Says Tournament Director, Marga Tan, “While we cheer tournament ‘veterans’, we are very glad to see that more and more people are playing competitive badminton. First time MESUCA CUP participants played impressively better than expected - that’s a good indication that the sport is moving to a higher level.”
Gold and Silver Medalists for Levels A to F were awarded with Mesuca racquets, bags, shuttlecocks, knee supports and gifts from sponsors.
