Budapest, Hungary, July 16, 2006 – At the 17th World Corporate Games that was held this week in Budapest, Hungary, Regina Echavez of the Philippines medalled in the badminton competition. Echavez won the third-place medal in the women’s singles event for players over 30 years old.
In the women’s doubles event, open category, Echavez teamed up with fellow countrywoman Jasmine Navarra to reach the semifinals where they lost to the eventual champions from England.
Echavez and Navarra competed in the World Corporate Games as part of a combined Equitable PCI Bank Trust Department – SunGard Globalplus Users team.
Other team members from the Philippines were Tony Lontok and Leon Cuyegkeng. Cuyegkeng partnered with K.C. Leong of Malaysia to reach the semifinals of the badminton men’s doubles event for players over 40 years old.
The World Corporate Games is a yearly international multi-sport competition where participants represent business organizations instead of nations or geographical areas. The next edition of the World Corporate Games is scheduled for Bilbao, Spain in July, 2007. |
