The La Salle Greenhills Tribu Verde Batch 81 hosted the First Brother Dodo Cup Badminton Tournament last Aug 14, 2005 at the Powersmash Badminton Center in Makati City where a field of 150 badminton enthusiasts and athletes competed at various levels of competition vying for trophies, medals, and cash prizes.
There was tremendous turnout and it was not lacking in tough competition. Each event was characterized by thrilling encounters with the exception of two sweep categories in the Men's Doubles B and Ladies' Doubles B. But exceptionally noted was the warm camaraderie, fellowship and fun that this event exhibited, as participants were very appreciative of the spirit in which the tournament was managed and conducted.
It was a great mix of various badminton 'barkada' groups coming together to compete for a noble cause, said Tribu Verde President, Emil Alvarado. In the end, it was each one's commitment to help our beneficiary that was the underlying mission that made this event a success. The First Brother Dodo Cup Badminton Tournament was for the benefit of the Tribu Verde Foundation and the St. Jaime Hilario - La Salle Integrated School for the poor children of Bagac, Bataan.
De La Salle Brother Provincial, Brother Edmundo 'Dodo' Fernandez, himself a 'katribu' LSGH Batch 81 alumnus, was on hand to witness the festivities. I am extremely proud at the effort of my classmates. They have helped to create awareness to a school that would help educate the marginalized children of our society. |
