On April 16, A. Alfonso Supermarket hosted the 1st Alfonso Badminton Cup 2005 held at Smashers Badminton Center at Ortigas Extension, Pasig City. The one day competition had men's and ladies' doubles category commencing with the round robin system and the usual best of three sets matches in their respective categories.

Shuttles' Best Riverbanks team---a newly formed Marikina-based badminton group emerged victorious as most of their players hoarded the much-coveted trophies for champions and runner-ups. Mike Peralta and Peter Toralballa were Level D champion, Michael Jimenez and Leslie Santos were Level D runner up. Father-son tandem Noel & RB Dimayuga were Level E runner up.

In the ladies' doubles division, sisters Mae and Bona Baguyo emerged as Level C runner up,
IBC 13 newscaster Karen Tayao and Macre De Jesus as Level D runner up, Joy Dizon and Jeanette Pastor as Level E champion , Marie Ramos & Hazel Ramos as Level E runner up.

Generous sponsors of the said event included Gatorade, Orocan, Globe, Palmolive, Orbits, and Kiwi. Tournament heads were Gerald Luansing and Miguelito Plaza.
